Harve Presnell died on Tuesday after a long fight with cancer. According to his agent, Gregg Klein, the Golden Globe winning actor and singer spent his last days at St. John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California before succumbing to pancreatic cancer. Presnell, who first got his start on Broadway due to his “booming baritone”, was perhaps most well known for his acting in the Coen Brothers‘ 1996 success, Fargo. In it Presnell played the father-in-law of lead character William H. Macy.

However, it was his time spent on Broadway that his biggest fans remember him best from. While on Broadway he was featured in The Unsinkable Molly Brown and Annie as well as Gone With the Wind and a few others. In 1965 he won the Golden Globe for the “Most Promising Male Newcomer”.

In recent years he made appearances in The Legend of Bagger Vance, Saving Private Ryan, and Old School.

He will be missed.
