Farrah Fawcett's son obtained permission to attend funeral

Redmond O `Neal may leave jail for three hours to bid farewell to his mother in a ceremony tonight at the Cathedral of Los Angeles

Redmond O `Neal, son of actors Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O` Neal, obtained permission to leave prison today for three hours to attend the funeral of his mother, who died last week.

The religious services were held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Los Angeles at 2300 GMT.

Fawcett, who was diagnosed with cancer in September 2006, died on June 25 to 62 years of age after prolonged chemical treatment and surgery in the United States and Germany.

Redmond O `Neal, 24, was convicted in 2008 for possession of heroin and methamphetamines, but received the benefit of probation.

However, last September the police began an investigation at the residence of his father, Ryan O `Neal, where he lived, and found methamphetamine, which was sent to prison.

A court authorized to Redmond on Monday, participating in what the Police Department of Los Angeles as "an intensive program of rehabilitation for drug addicts, to leave prison today for three hours and attend the funeral, accompanied at all times by a policeman.

The authorities will allow the couple use their clothes instead of uniforms of the county jail.
